Aubrey Singer, Director

01 — Why

Why I direct

I spent a decade as an agency writer, mostly TV and radio. Along the way I became a director’s worst nightmare: the writer on set who’d step in when someone gave up on an actor, and who never quite accepted “that’s just the budget” as an answer.

Eventually I stopped complaining and bought a 16mm camera.

I still think like the writer in the room, and I direct the way I always wished directors would: nothing should come between you and your idea. Including me. My job is to get it onto the screen as sharp as it is on the page, or sharper. That means staying engaged through the edit, and if you want me there, in the booth directing VO through the final mix.

Light.

Dark.

02 — Action

Let's make your idea.
